Dr. Jens Herbig is currently the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of IONICON Analytik. The Austria based company is the leading manufacturer of PTR-MS trace gas analysers and provides solutions for real-time monitoring of volatile organic compounds. After his PhD in Physics, he joined the spin-off IONIMED in 2006 to advance PTR-MS applications in medicine and biotechnology. When in 2013 the two companies merged, he was promoted CTO of IONICON with responsibilities including the development of new application areas. Soon thereafter IONICON made the first step into an emerging market, AMC monitoring for the semiconductor industry that should soon become the most rapidly growing business for PTR technology for the next years. With his growing team Dr. Herbig translated a complex, high-end scientific analyser to an automated industrial monitoring system.
